Every idea, every light bulb moment, sets off a domino effect of research, design, testing, and development. Whether it’s the balance of a handle or the sharpness of a blade, we obsess over every detail until we get it right. It takes months, sometimes years, but you can’t rush perfection. Of course, a little help from our friends makes it easier, and even more fun. We’ve partnered with expert engineers, designers, professional chefs, Olavists, and generations-old family-run factories to achieve our goal of creating a product that you can have-and love-for life.
With every kitchen tool we start a research project. After every idea, every light bulb moment, we spent months researching, testing, developing and designing - obsessing over every detail until we get it right. This process not only takes a lot of time and effort but also a little help from our friends. We've partnered with a team of engineers, professional chefs, Olavists & multi-generational family run factories to achieve our goal of creating the perfect product that sticks with you through thick and thin.

A Heart of Copper
What makes Olav's cookware so special? A Heart of Copper. Copper is the most conductive metal used in cookware today, distributing heat up to 20 times better than stainless steel. By putting a thick layer of it at the core of our 5-ply material, it creates a pan (or pot) with easy, controllable heat all the way to the top for perfect results no matter what you cook with-gas, electric, or induction.

We worked with one of the oldest family-run grinding shops in Solingen-Germany’s ‘City of Blades’-to develop the Olav Chef’s Knife. Combining a revolutionary powder metallurgical steel construction, prized for its strength and corrosion resistance, with expert craftsmanship, we created the strongest, sharpest, and most precise tool for your kitchen. From the ultra-thin blade to the handpicked European wood handles, every one of its 18 centimeters has been designed and built to make each slice, chop or dice feel light, balanced, and intuitive. Its good looks aren’t an accident either.
